Dr. Lim Hwee Yong

Senior Consultant and Director

Dr. Lim Hwee Yong, a distinguished medical oncologist at Novena Cancer Centre, holds an impressive medical background. Graduating with an MB BCh from the University College Dublin, National University of Ireland, he earned recognition with the Ambrose Birmingham Medal in Anatomy and various university scholarships. Dr. Lim pursued postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at the University of Hawaii and specialized in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah. He is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology.

Upon his return to Singapore in 2010, Dr. Lim contributed significantly to the field of medical oncology. He held roles as a consultant medical oncologist at the National Cancer Centre Singapore, a visiting consultant medical oncologist at Changi General Hospital, and served as the President of the Singapore Society of Oncology. His expertise extends to leading and participating in pivotal research on various cancers, including gastro-intestinal, hepato-biliary, lung, colon, breast cancer, and neuroendocrine tumors.

Dr. Lim’s commitment to education is evident through his lectures to doctors, medical students, and nurses locally and internationally. He actively engages in medical oncology training structures, serves as an examiner for medical oncologist trainee exit exams, and teaches at prominent medical schools. Dr. Lim’s extensive involvement in professional societies, including his presidency of the Singapore Society of Oncology and founding membership in the Singapore Hepatopancreatobiliary Association, reflects his dedication to advancing oncology.

Dr. Tan Min-Han is a clinician-scientist and principal investigator at the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, Singapore. Serving as a visiting consultant medical oncologist at the National Cancer Centre Singapore, he specializes in urological cancers and clinical cancer genetics. Dr. Tan earned his medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 1998, completed medical oncology fellowship training in 2008, and holds a Ph.D. in the molecular epidemiology of kidney cancer.

As the lead editor of the Singapore Cancer Network (SCAN), he guides the development of the national practice framework for cancer care and chairs the Drug Advisory Committee-Oncology Drug Subcommittee, influencing national policy on cancer drug utilization. Dr. Tan’s laboratory research focuses on cancer diagnostics, circulating biomarkers, cellular models of drug discovery, nanomedicine, and drug delivery methods using green tea polyphenols. He has authored over 100 papers, received awards for research contributions, and actively mentors physicians, scientists, and students at various levels. Additionally, he plays a crucial role in international research collaborations, including serving on the steering committee of the International Consortium for the Investigation of Renal Malignancies (I-ConFIRM) and holding board membership in the Hereditary Leiomyomatosis-Renal Cell Carcinoma Family Alliance.
